Staff Sgt. Frank Carvill was a member of AOH Division 7- New York County who was killed in action on June 4, 2004 while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery near Sadr City, Iraq. NJ Friends has established a scholarship fund in his memory. Frank Carvill was a generous and caring man who went out of his way to help others; whether it was his neighbors in Carlstadt, New Jersey or his co-workers at the World Trade Center. In 1993 during the first terrorist attack on the WTC Frank was recognized for his heroics when he carried a disabled co-worker down 54 flights of stairs, again on September 11, 2001 while in the employ of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Frank survived the attack and immediately volunteered to assist in rescue and recovery efforts. In addition to his selfless service to his country, Frank was a dedicated and active member in many Irish-American groups, including past President of the Armagh Association, Treasurer of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center and a member of the County Cork Association and the Brehon Law Society.
